As regular readers know, Frances is a shy sort of gal. She's not one who likes to be handled and will usually dart away if you get too close. And by 'you' I mean me. Unless of course I'm in bed which is an entirely different story. She might lie down smack dab on my chest and purr up a storm. She's a quirky one, she is.
However, she has a particular skill, nearly always performed away from admiring eyes as she doesn't like to draw attention. I never dreamed I'd be able to share. Even I don't often get to witness it, I can often 'hear' it in the dead of night.
The video is longer than I would normally post. Frankly, it only ends when it does because my memory card was full. I could have gone on and on. If you watch the whole thing you'll see that some of her best moves are near the end.
So I give you Frances Jellybean, Whirly Thing Whirler Extraordinaire!

ReplyDeleteWow, I'm totally impressed at how skilled she is at that. I didn't know adult cats played with that thing - I may have to buy one for my cats and hope they play with it so I don't waste my money.

ReplyDeleteHarley loves her whirly thing, too, although her skills aren't as impressive as Franny's. Interestingly, Harley's personality is much like Franny's - pretty stand-offish except at bedtime, when she cuddles right up to me and even licks my cheek!
ReplyDeleteHmmm -neither of my girls have given much of a hoot for the twirly thing. So I have it in the closet for the 'next' generation when the time comes. (not soon I hope!)

ReplyDeleteIt is hilarious how cats stop doing something highly stimulating (whirly thing, laser pointer) and feel compelled to give themselves a quick groom "in medias res".
Franny's got some serious whirly ball skills! I love when she looks up like, "Are you watching, Mom? Are you watching?" And when she pauses to groom - because her fur is getting mussed from all this exertion, you know.

ReplyDeleteI recently bought a whirly ball thingy for my Daphne and it is honestly probably the best $20 I've ever spent. She LOVES it. Even more than the feather wand, and that's saying a lot because she freaking loves that too.

ReplyDeleteI love that Frannie is an "ambi-whirler" and that she paused to groom while waiting for the ball to come back around. It's a great combination of "this is the greatest thing ever" and "I really have no time for this type of diversion".
