Whose Toes Are Those?

Okay. I know you know. The question is rhetorical. But personally, I've never seen toes like this before. I find them quite impressive.

Bowl Reversal

Myrtle always eats and drinks with her dainty little girl paws on the rim of whatever.

Here we have her eating the big kitty food while Tiny Man indulges himself with the kitten food.

Okay, not my best work, but Anna had been so kind to ask after my Big Guy I thought this would be a good time to share.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

A Little Spring Break

I decided to take the kids outside with me today while I assembled the new lawn mower.

They'd been trying ever so hard to squirt out the door, and since sunshine has been at a premium this spring, it was time to take advantage.

I've decided to take a little break from blogging for a short while. I've established a pattern of posting most every weekday, and while I know (for goodness sake!) that I'd be forgiven if I posted less frequently, I'd like to maintain the tradition.

I find myself needing some time to rejuvenate, so that's what I'll do for a bit. I won't stop posting altogether; it just won't be so regular for a bit.

Of course, I'll let you know when any of the kids is available for adoption and when they find their permanent homes. Honestly, I expect to be back in full swing by then.

Actually, Alvin has been big enough for surgery for some time, but Russell so loves his company I see no reason to rush things.

So enjoy the fresh air and check back now and then!

Thanks for your loyalty! I value each and every one of you.

...and Russell!!

How Was the Cat Show, You Say?

It was fabulous!

Not only did we find homes for 3 of our precious kitties - YAY! - we're busting our buttons that they also won a number of ribbons!

I daresay the most impressive win was for Pippin. This charming guy took first place in the Best Personality/Male division! Perhaps the following had a little something to do with it:

Work it, Pippin!

Of course, he was also one of our adoptions. Who could resist a blue ribbon winner?

Although Boris had many, many admirers, he came back to Tacoma with us. Monica is happy to continue fostering him. His permanent family is out there.

This was really a great event and we're already looking forward to next year. Thanks for inviting us, Purrfect Pals!

Here's Where I'll Be on Saturday!

Those of you who've been following us for a while may remember little Myron Huggins. He was a precious foster boy who tested positive for FeLV - twice. (To read his whole story, click on his name on the sidebar. There are 7 posts.)

We were so fortunate to find Purrfect Pals, the only shelter in our area that accepts these kitties, as we are not able to provide what they need.

Well.. Purrfect Pals has an annual fundraising event to support their foster program - The Average Joe Cat Show! Our Humane Society was invited to participate and bring some of our spectacular adoptable kitties!

This is an organization I am so pleased to support. Dear friend and co-volunteer Monica will be travelling north with me tomorrow morning with 6 of our precious shelter cats and kittens. We're so excited to show them off and perhaps even find them homes! (I won't have any of my Pitter Pats babies with me as they're not yet ready for adoption.)

If you're in the area, we'd love for you to drop by and say hi! We'll have Boris with us.

Now there's a charmer.

The Power of Suggestion. It's Powerful.

Dr. Robbins: Sue, you should take this one.

Lori (tech): You could name her something like Myrtle.

Alvin Honey? We've Had a Request for Belly Spots

Thank you, sweetie. Now go back to sleep.

Bonus Post Today!

Remember Poofy? AKA Pat the Cat?

Well, get a load of him now. He is one handsome man cat.

Becky sent me this sweet Mothers' Day surprise. How thoughtful she is.

Hi Sue!

I couldn't resist sending you an update this week! I got a new camera, and I love some of these pics!

He's getting sooo big! But he hasn't out grown any of his floof, as you can see. :D His paws are just adorable and you can't help but nom them.

He is still my Snuggle Bug and always has to be on my shoulder. (He stuffs his face into my hair and purrs up a storm). Kisuke has so much energy still, it's ridiculous. When he runs his brother Renji tired, he flops down on the back of the couch with a "Mom, I'm bored" look. And he can't resist a string of any kind, even if it's connected to my camera. LOL!

It's like the kids knew it was Mothers' Day today, too! Jared had been up for an hour, but when I woke up and opened the door they all ran into the room and up on the bed with me: Kisuke on my shoulder, Renji on my stomach and Asuka on my other side. I love being a Kitty Mom!

Hope your Mother's Day was just as good! :D

You may recall that as an employee of Pokemon, Becky along with her husband Jared has a fondness for Japanese kitty names. I know nothing of the language, but they sound almost musical to me.

This was not the only acknowlegement I received in honor of Mothers' Day. You know who you are and it bears repeating as many times as you can bear to hear it that you are dearly appreciated not only by me, but by all the animals you provide for. Thank you!

You Tell Me..

Do they make 'em any cuter?

Maybe. But I'd need to see for myself.

Where Are My Manners?

It has been pointed out to me - and rightly so - that it is the height of impropriety to speak of someone in their presence as if they are not there.

A certain fellow whose name begins with 'R' and ends with 'ussell' has asked that I make amends.

And so I shall.

Public - This is Russell. Russell - Meet your public.

Did you see it? The little white foot? Oh my stars.

Alvin's Feelin' His Oats

And the split screen version:

After yesterday's post you may be wondering why the bathroom door is open. Well, our newest tenant accompanied me to work today, and these were taken while he was in his crate. He's not quite eating on his own yet, so I needed to supplement him every few hours.

Yes, 'he'. His name is Russell. Please stay tuned.

Sittin' Solo

Alvin and I said goodbye to Maureen today and we're both feeling the void. But she's got a swell new family and I know we'll be in touch.

Her new mama Tina is the sister of our shelter cat care coordinator! Tina is also mom to the cutest little 2-year-old girl - oh my goodness. Mom runs a dog boarding facility and is a dedicated animal lover. Maureen - who will now be known as Maureen! - is already loved by her new peeps. They couldn't wait to take her home.

It makes letting them go so much easier when you know in your heart that they've found the right home.

Besides, there's also the distraction of a certain little guy who set up housekeeping in the bathroom today..
